How to Restart Gnome (without rebooting the computer)

Do you need to restart Gnome but dont want to restart your whole Ubuntu machine? First save and close all opened applications.
Press ‘Ctrl + Alt + Backspace’
or
Start a terminal window and type:

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
